What Types of Cruises Are Available to You

June 27th, 2007

If you are thinking about taking a nice vacation, one of the best types of vacations to take is a luxury cruise. There are many types of cruises available and you should be able to find one that will fit anyone’s budget, lifestyle and interests. If you would like to get away from the ordinary, here are some examples of the different types of luxury cruises available to you.

There are three main types of luxury cruises, high end luxury cruising, family and mainstream cruises and niche cruises.

High End Cruises
High end cruises are as described, “luxurious.” They have very high standards on luxury, food and accommodations. Usually the staff to guest ratio is extremely low sometimes as low to 1 staff worker to 2 or 3 guests. Most rooms are decorated like luxury hotels and there are plenty of expensive amenities on board. High end cruises consist of ships owned by Cunard, such as the QE II.

Family and Mainstream Cruises
Family and mainstream cruises offer great accommodation, delicious food and lots of fun activities for the whole family or just for couples. Ships that are included in this category are Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line and Disney among others. You can usually find great rooms or low budget rooms on any ship and there are plenty of fun activities.

Niche Cruises
Niche cruises are constantly popping up. These include cruises on very small ships to exotic destination such as Wind Jammer Cruises or cruises that cater to certain groups such as a Star Trek Cruises, Christian cruises, or even nudist cruises.

Choosing Family Camping Tents

June 24th, 2007

Choosing
Family Camping Tents

Many adults will say one of the most memorable parts of their
childhood was the family’s camping trips. Camping is near and dear to a lot of
peoples’ hearts whether the sleep out took place in the backyard or involved a
more in depth planning and execution process. It makes sense that as those
children grew up and had families of their own that they would want to continue
the family tradition and take their children on camping trips as well. To make
this dream a reality, the most important piece of equipment is the family
camping tents. These tents have evolved over the years into virtual paradises
of home like comfort.

You can find family camping tents in a variety of styles,
sizes, and colors. Almost any version can be found to accommodate the family’s
size and needs. Family camping tents are better made than ever with the
advancement of technology, and are constructed of the most durable and
weatherproof materials. While it may not be the optimal experience to camp in
inclement weather, with these tents it doesn’t have to be the worst thing ever
either. While deciding on the perfect tent for your family there is a certain
criteria to keep in mind.

Before style even becomes a consideration, it is important to
find a well made family camping tent. When you find a tent that you really like,
check online message boards for honest reactions to the products performance.
There are several websites available that are designed to provide consumer
opinions. Then visit the local sporting goods store to take a look at the tent
up close and personal. You will want to pay careful attention to the zippers,
fastenings, and how easy or difficult the tent is to put up. Be sure to also look
into the type of material used and the quality of the poles and attachments. A
good family camping tent should be made to last a long time and hold up to the
rigors of the great outdoors.

Once you have found several family camping tents you like, then
you can narrow down your selection according to your personal preferences. Some
family camping tents are a large one room design, while others have a tunnel
between two “rooms” that children find a lot of fun. Also consider the size and
space available in the vehicle that will be used for camping trips. Many models
are made to be compact and space saving for smaller vans and cars.

Family camping trips are worthwhile. Be sure to be properly
prepared with one of the high quality family camping tents available for a more
enjoyable vacation.

Norwegian Caribbean Cruise: Sun-Filled Holidays to All Parts of the Caribbean

June 24th, 2007

The Norwegian Caribbean Lines was founded with an 830 ton cruise ship/car ferry that provided low cost Norwegian Caribbean cruises, but later expanded its fleet by acquiring additional ships to cater to the Caribbean service. Norwegian Caribbean Lines were the first to include excursions to the Caribbean such as the Out Island Cruise as well as the first combined air-sea program that combined low cost air fares with the cruise and the company also developed new ports in the Caribbean such as Ocho Rios in Jamaica. With Norwegian Caribbean cruises, one can escape to the delightful Caribbean islands and snorkel in the Caymans as well as swim with dolphins. There are a number of Norwegian Caribbean cruises that each has different itineraries as well as costs and durations. There are tempting holiday packages to Great Stirrup Cay where one may snorkel to one’s heart’s delight, and be amazed at the variety of tropical fish, colorful sponges as well as corals that are sprinkled around the crystal-clear waters of Bertram’s Cove.

Escape To a Number of Different Locations in the Caribbean

One can take the eleven day Norwegian Caribbean cruise to southern Caribbean ports of St. John’s Antigua that have a beach for each day of the year as well as a coastline dotted with safe harbors as well as an almost unbroken protective wall of coral reef. One can also visit Bridgetown, Barbados where the ambience reflects sophistication as well as languid pace, and an exciting tour of Harrison’s Cave would very likely be on the cards of most holiday makers as they have underground streams, massive waterfalls as well as stalactites and stalagmites.

Norwegian Caribbean cruises on the Norwegian Cruise lines offer great service and one can expect to be met at the airport by their representatives who will help facilitate passengers through luggage claims as well as help them board shuttle buses. Once one arrives at the port, the check-in process is simple and a real breeze with no lines as well as finds a waitress serving ice cold water to greet passengers at the check-in room.

One can expect to travel aboard the Norwegian Caribbean cruise liners in pristine clean cabins and the cruise ship itself is well adorned with bars and other entertainment spots including discos and casinos. In addition, one could swim in any of the two pools or take a dip in the four hot tubs on the top deck. A western Norwegian Caribbean cruise would take one to ports at Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya as well as Cozumel.

Going to see fencing in Beijing

June 19th, 2007

Over the next couple of months all of the tickets for the Beijing Olympic Games will be sold and hotels are already selling out for booking in the three weeks of August 2008 for the Olympic Games. I’m working with a company for some Olympic travel packages that will give some fencing enthusiasts not only tickets to the gold medal matches, but a nice hotel stay and some in town tours.

All of the various travel packages also include some very nice local area tours, so if you’re already going half way around the world to see the Olympics, you can tack on a couple of days to visit the Great Wall or some of the other wonders that China has to offer.

Add Pages to Your U.S. Passport

June 11th, 2007

A standard U.S. Passport comes with 24 pages but only 16 of them are for visa stamps. The first eight contain things like personal identification information, passport instructions and travel tips.

If you travel often to international destinations, it is quite possible you could run out of visa pages before your passport expires. To avoid this problem in the future, you may request additional visa pages at the time of application.

All you need to do is attach a signed request for additional Visa pages to your passport application. There is no additional cost for this service.

If, however, you already have a passport that has less than two to four empty visa pages but quite a bit of time left before expiration, you can send in a special application to have visa pages added to your present passport.

To learn more about this service, visit add pages to passport at U.S. Passport Service Guide.

Getting The Cheapest Air Line Fare

June 7th, 2007

Without a courier, many
important packages that are working their way through the flight system would
be stuck in customs an awfully long time. Therefore, courier companies
“hire” people to transport their packages for them in a set. All that
you have to do is forfeit your baggage space, and you can receive some of the
lowest airfare prices available. There isn’t actually a “payment”
that is exchanged here; you are providing a service, but in return you are only
getting the lowest airfare that the company can afford. Also, scheduling can be
a bit of a pain in the butt - you may have a quick stopover in one place you
wanted to visit, and days in another that really doesn’t interest you. Plus,
can you imagine flying to Paris
with only your overnighter bag’ Those with light luggage and really flexible
schedules may love this option, though. Remember these factors when looking for the
cheapest air line fare.

Walking in Tenerife For Health Fitness & Enjoyment

June 6th, 2007

Why Walk Anywhere, let alone Tenerife?

First and foremost
because you value your health, and you want quality of life later on
in your life, and into old age.
There is
little joy in growing old unless you are healthy.

It can also be
very beneficial in managing your weight.
An
American study has indicated that if you walk for 45 minutes every
day, you will lose 18 pounds over a year without making any other
changes to your lifestyle.

Walking is the
simplest exercise known to man but it can bestow enormous benefits.
An exercise that can be very enjoyable and great fun, can be the best
life insurance policy you could ever buy. You do not have to run a
marathon, or jog even, to obtain health benefits, which will stand
you in good stead for the rest of your life. Diet is important but
your lifestyle surrounding that diet is even more important.
Expensive gym membership is not
necessary.

If you have been
relatively inactive, then just 30 minutes daily 4 or 5 days a week
will dramatically improve your health,

protect your heart, and significantly reduce the risk of developing
diabetes. The healthiest people are those that build walking into
their daily routine. You can also become very fit by increasing the
speed and distances that you walk. However, the starting point is
your health and your weight is integral to this. Without exercise, a
diet programme is undesirable because weight loss results in losing
lean muscle as well as body fat. Through walking, a sensible diet
will effectively control your weight and
in
later life walking will help prevent your body from deteriorating
rapidly.

Remember, walkers do not have
to be fanatics (although they can be!) with strict programmes and
regimes like many other sports enthusiasts. Walking itself calms you
down and gives you an even handed view of life and exercise. The
simple things in life are often the best.

So Why go to Tenerife to Walk

It is difficult not
to use extravagant language in describing some of the walks and
scenery of Tenerife, but their use is justified. One such walk is described in
one of the walking guides as “Wow Spectacular!”
This is quite a strenuous
walk is down from the Parador (hotel) on the Las Canadas. It is
strenuous because although it descends from 2150m down to 1600m
it starts by climbing a steep ridge to 2400m but with a rewarding
panorama of the National Park.

If you visited
the island and only had time for one walk, and you were sure footed
with a head for heights, then this would be the one to go for! It
really does have everything; spectacular views, awesome scenery and
magnificent flora.
Walking holidays in Tenerife do not have to be expensive, and because there are so many other activities on the island you can split your time up to suit your fitness. Not forgetting that you can visit Tenerife in the winter months to enjoy some fantastic walking in warm sunshine.

How to Get a Passport in a Hurry

June 3rd, 2007

If you know anyone who has applied for a U.S. passport recently, you probably heard horror stories. Many would-be international travelers were caught unaware of increases in processing times by the U.S. Department of State Passport Services.

The introduction of new laws and an increased demand have create some difficulties for Americans who want to apply for a passport. Routine passport processing which, for many years, took only six weeks to complete now requires up to 10 weeks or more. Expedited services can take up to four weeks instead of the usual two.

Many travelers who were unaware of the increases found themselves desperately seeking a way to get their passport in time for their scheduled trip. Following are just a few of the numerous messages U.S. Passport Service Guide has recently received.

The National Passport Information Service has representatives available from 7:00 am to 12 midnight. However, you have about as much a chance to get through as you do winning the lottery. You can almost sense the desperation in some of the messages U.S. Passport Service Guide has received recently.

“Are you able to expedite a passport application that is already being processed? Filed for passports for my wife and me first week in January for March 18 trip. Now told they will not be ready until March 27, well after our departure date. Please advise.”

“I need to know the status of three passports for my children. We are leaving the country in two weeks and I thought we would have their new passports by now. Please advise.”

“My application has been processed, but will arrive too late for my trip. Can I expedite the process before 3/16? I cannot get through [to National Passport Information Service] by phone or e-mail to save my life.”

Travelers who are able to get through to the National Passport Information Service and set up an appointment as a regional passport agency will more than likely find themselves facing extremely long and chaotic lines.

One alternative is to contract a private passport expediter. Expediters have a special relationship with the U.S. State Department that allow them to hand deliver applications and pick up prepared passports for their clients in 10 days or less.

While the cost of passport expediting through a private service may be expensive, it can mean the difference between actually receiving your passport before your departure date and having to cancel your trip. Visit U.S. Passport Service Guide for more detailed information about acquiring an emergency passport.

Find A Job On A Cruise Ship

June 3rd, 2007

Jobs on a cruise ship are as varied as those you will find in any small
city. The skills and knowledge required are also varied. Turnover for many
cruise positions is very high, but most cruise lines get thousands of applications
weekly, so matching your skills to a ship’s needs is one key to getting a job.
When cruise lines have openings, they want to fill them quickly. Therefore,
your resume must be in their hands at the “right time”, and they must
be immediately convinced that you (1) understand the job and (2) have the
skills and ability to do the job. Most jobs on a cruise ship require that you
start at the bottom of the organization chart and work your way up, especially
if your prior experience is limited.

The organization chart of a cruise ship looks much like what it is — a
hotel on a ship. There are probably between 150-200 different jobs on most
cruise ships! All of the same departments you would find in a resort hotel are
present on a cruise ship, along with all the same engine and deck departments
you would find on any cargo or transport ship.
