Crewed Charter Yachts

April 18th, 2008

Crewed Charter Yachts

Just imagine cruising the
tropical seas aboard your own privately chartered yacht. If this has been a dream of yours that you
would like to make a reality it is recommended that you first do some research.
As with anything else word of mouth is always the best testament. If you have a business partner, friend, or
family member that has chartered a yacht ask about their experience.

Count the Costs

There are a lot of charter
companies and a huge variety of yachts available for charter. The prices are widely varied as well. A basic
charter fee will include the use of the yacht and its equipment, crew salary
and insurance. Additional expenses would depend upon your destination and
number of guests. Some of these expenses would include the fuel, water,
dockage, port and cruising taxes, mooring charges, shoreside power etc. There
may be specific needs and requests that may increase your costs as well such as
the food, wine, beverages, and flowers. Also, the additional cost of getting to
the yacht’s location may not be included.

Do Your Research

Most of these crewed charter yachts
have websites. The website should have
information on the various yachts they represent. A yacht’s specifications and equipment will
most likely be listed. You should
charter a yacht that is a substantial ocean going vessel that can offer a high
level of comfort and sea worthiness. The
captain’s names should be available with their resumes and those of the rest of
the crew. Security is an important issue
in today’s world. Inquire what
precautions they have taken and what type of security they provide. Medical situations could arise and you need
to know how their company would handle an emergency situation. This should be an experience of a lifetime so
you want to make sure all the bases are covered before you leave port.

Some other questions to consider:
Where would you like to cruise? How long
do you wish to cruise? How many
guests? Will there only be adults or
will children be aboard also? What type of recreational activities do you want
to partake in? Do you or any of your guests have special dietary or physical needs? You want to choose the ideal yacht and crew
to make exploring distant islands and tropical locations enjoyable and relaxing.

Enjoy Your Cruising Experience

Now that we have covered the
necessary technical information here is what to expect onboard one of these
crewed charter yachts. A typical day of
cruising will include exploring private inlets and bays, swimming, fishing and
snorkeling or maybe some waterskiing or racing with your friends on a jet ski. You may decide you just want to relax on a
private beach improving your suntan. For a cultural experience there is always shopping
in a quaint island village or collecting pieces of art from various ports of
call.

After a day of water activities
you may wish to relax in the salon with a refreshing cocktail and freshly
prepared appetizers and watch TV or view a movie. For the evening meal you will be treated to a
dinner that may include an international cuisine or perhaps, freshly caught
fish by yours truly, prepared by a professionally trained chef. You may want to dine on the lido deck
watching beautiful sunsets. You may
choose to have your meal served in an elegantly decorated dining room of your beautiful
charter yacht.

As long as you do your research
and plan ahead you will not be disappointed with your decision to book a crewed
charter yacht.

Welcoming Immigrants to America for More Than a Century

April 5th, 2008

She’s one of the country’s most recognized women and she has aged
gracefully since her arrival in 1886. Lighting the way for immigrants,
visitors, and travelers, the Statue of Liberty was presented to the
United States by France in commemoration of the country’s centennial
and as a gesture of friendship from France. Student group travelers who
make the journey to see her are rewarded with a new sense of
citizenship and pride.

Standing at Liberty Island, the statue
has served as the ultimate symbol of a new life, freedom, and
opportunity for all who have gazed upon her. From 1886 until the early
1950’s, she was often one of the first glimpses of the United States
for millions of immigrants when their voyage from Europe arrived in New
York.

The Best Educational Experiences in Washington, DC

April 5th, 2008

Educational travel can give teachers
and administrators a boost in exciting many students about their
academic lessons. Travel brings curriculum to life while teaching
lessons that students will need throughout their lives. As a former
middle school principal I found that educational travel goes
hand-in-hand with offering a total educational program to young
adolescents. This is even more important today as teachers and
principals are facing increased pressure to prepare students to pass
mandated academic tests.

During
my years teaching in middle school, I learned that young adolescents
can gain a multitude of invaluable experiences from travel, learning
both the information they will be able to apply in the classroom and
skills that will help them develop personally. Unfortunately, some
young people will never be able to take educational tours without
involvement with their school. So, middle school educators can
contribute to a young adolescent’s complete education when they include
education travel in their program.

DIA: Beacon of Detroit Culture for More Than a Century

April 5th, 2008

Located in the heart of Detroit’s Cultural Center and founded in 1885,
the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) began its life on Jefferson Avenue
in Detroit, but due to its rapidly expanding collection, moved to a
larger site in 1927. The Beaux-Arts building, designed by Paul Cret,
was referred to as “the temple of art.” Over the years, expansion and
renovations created what is today one of the largest, most significant
collections in the United States, ranging from prehistory through the
21st century.

The intensive European contacts of William
Valentiner, one of the museum’s early directors, along with support
from generous patrons, enabled him to acquire many important works that
established the framework of today’s collections. Some of his most
notable collections include Mexican artist Diego Rivera’s Detroit
Industry frescoe cycle, considered Diego’s most important work in the
U.S., as well as Vincent van Gogh’s Self Portrait, the first van Gogh
painting to enter a U.S. museum collection.

official luxury sedan service for
airport transportation to and from the Metro Detroit Airport, Checker Sedan

historic landmarks in style.

United Nations Great Place For Students To Visit While In NYC

April 4th, 2008

As
the site of many of the most significant events in recent world
history, the United Nations Headquarters is a great stop for students
visiting New York City.

The
United Nations is officially considered international territory, with
the land not being part of either the city of New York or the United
States, the host country.

When
visitors pass through the gates of the United Nations Headquarters,
they enter 18 acres of international territory, extending from 42nd street to 48th
street and from First Avenue to the East River. Officially the land
belongs to all countries who belong to the UN, now 192 member states.
The United Nations has its own security and fire forces, issues its own
postage stamps and conducts business in its six official languages:
Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

Educational travel
combines elements such as adventure, cultural encounters, and learning
experiences to open students’ minds to new opportunities. Travel
provides an element of learning totally unique from the classroom. But
let’s be honest, while on an extended tour students also need some

shopping most teenagers’ favorite pastime, it’s also a great way to
experience a locale, such as Orlando, Florida. Here, student tours are
treated to exciting shopping/entertainment complexes that offer hours
